Thank You DC For Another Market Day Success

Yesterday, March 30th, the Washington Design Center held it's second annual market day since moving into the Franklin Court location in DC.

Holly Hunt Market Event

We were pleased to see how well attended the event was by DC area interior designers, architects, industry professionals, students and even retail consumers. The design center's showrooms hosted design professionals and industry leaders while launching new product collections for 2017. Each year in the spring, the design center's showrooms create a combination of hosted events and open houses during a single day as a way to showcase the latest trends and products. This year featured topics ranging from social media to floral design and everything in between.

WDC Keynote

Traditional Home and ELLE DECOR helped fill out this year's keynote panels. With one of our best-attended markets in the new location, it was standing room only for attendees. From ELLE DECOR, Karen Elizabeth Marx interviewed Hutton Wilkinson and Michelle Nussbaumer on the fundamentals of color, pattern, and textiles. The Traditional Home panel included Tori Mellott and designer panelists Maria Crosby, Liz Levin and Tricia Huntley for a lively panel discussion on the modern landscape of interior design.

Tribute to Ann Lambeth

The day wrapped up this year with a champagne toast to Ann Lambeth. As a founding member of the WDC and an integral member of the D.C. design community, Ann was an ambassador of great design. “The design industry was Ann’s lifelong passion, and she lovingly championed so many along their path,” the company said. “Ann was a design dynamo, and her steady, consistent and heartfelt efforts to bring the best of the world to Washington was matched only by her constant efforts to share the best Washington had to offer with the rest of the world.” Guests are welcome to share their favorite memory or story of Ann. A memorial scholarship has been established in Ann’s honor.

We encourage everyone who attended yesterday's event to complete our survey. Feedback from the design community helps us continue to improve and prioritize this program for everyone.
