American Interior Decoration

The Hearst Design Group Editorial Director, Newell Turner, opened the Washington Design Center grand opening festivities last week with a presentation on American Interior Decoration: Three Views. The professions of interior design and magazine publishing have had a symbiotic relationship for many decades. Some of the earliest modern magazine, in particular House Beautiful, started publication as the profession of interior design was emerging in the late 1800s out of various related trades. Over the last 30 years, as access and appreciation for decorating have grown by leaps and bounds, Elle Decor and Veranda magazines joined the scene with their own unique perspectives.  Newell Turner presented an inside look at the breadth and diversity of great design in American today.

Here are just a few of the photos from his presentation.  Please feel free to post your own photos and tag them with #WDCGrandOpening #NewellTurner
